The highlight of next year’s GNEX 2011 event will be the Perspective Magazine Awards Gala to be held in the Bahamas. Online voting for nominees opens October 1st 2010, closing December 31st 2010, and award finalists will be announced shortly thereafter.

The winners of each category will be honoured as the top in their industry and region and one will win the top accolade, the “Best in the World” award.

The Perspective Magazine Awards will run in conjunction with the four regional titles of the magazine: North America, Europe & Middle East, South Africa and Asia Pacific. Entrants will compete for "Best In Region" as voted by industry professionals. The top nominees will become Awards Finalists and will then go on to be judged by an exclusive panel.

The new ‘Timeshare Directive’ is to be implemented into national law across the European Union by 23 February 2011. Some countries have implemented the Directive already, notably France, others such as the UK and Finland, have recently issued draft proposals for new laws and several are consulting interested parties.

FSOTA (Fractional & Shared Ownership Trade Association) announced today a special introductory offer for new members. Companies that join the FSOTA between now and 1st February 2010 will receive full membership of the association at 1,216 Euros per year. This price is frozen for a 2 year period.

The Fractional and Shared Ownership Trade Association (FSOTA) has become a member of the trade body for vacation ownership, Resort Development Organisation (RDO). Formerly known as OTE (Organisation for Timeshare in Europe) RDO changed its name and opened up its membership to reflect changes in the vacation ownership industry, which has moved well beyond traditional forms of timeshare to include offerings such as ‘floating weeks’, the points system, fractional ownership, private residence clubs, destination clubs and condo hotels.

Growing numbers of people looking to invest in an affordable holiday home are turning to fractional ownership to get the most out of their money, the Financial Times (FT) reports. Hapimag, the oldest timeshare provider in Europe and long-standing member of the Resort Development Organisation, is offering such people a more flexible approach to fractional ownership, the news provider states.
